BRAMPTON ENTERPRENEURS GET STARTED WITH SUMMER COMPANY
 
The City of Brampton’s Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) has announced the successful entrepreneurs for its tenth annual Summer Company program. Summer
Company helps enterprising young students, 15 to 29 years old, start up and run their own summer business.
 
“The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well here in Brampton,” says Regional Councillor Elaine Moore, Chair of the Small Business Advisory Team. “I wish all the participants the best of success in their new business ventures.”
 
Summer Company entrepreneurs receive hands-on business coaching and mentoring from local business leaders who will help make their Summer Company viable. The 2010 Summer Company volunteer mentors include:
·         Jeff Bowman – The Marketing Pad
·         Surita Dey – Brampton Public Library
·         Amos Findlayter – Ministry of Revenue
·         Wade Proudlock – Apex Contracting
 
Each entrepreneur receives up to $1,500 to put toward start-up costs and up to an additional $1,500 upon successful completion of the program. This year’s winners,
selected from more than 200 applicants in Brampton and Caledon, are:
·         Dwijen Bharad - Sunshine Window Cleaning
·         Carly Cameron - KC Swim School
·         Alana Clark - Yoga Sprouts, providing a fun, exciting and healthy way to bring yoga to children, teens and families
·         Kiron Clarke - Athletic Showcase, helping student athletes create personalized highlight tapes for their specific sport
·         Jesse Cottrell - JC Photography, focused on horse show photography
·         Stephanie Hillier - Abundant Life Fitness Solutions, providing personal training
·         Deniece James - Hart Door Art Camp & Classes, with arts programming for kids
·         Hasanali Rajabali - Woody Woodworks Carpentry, specializing in custom carpentry
·         Chaitanya Shah - Kinergy Fitness, martial arts based fitness services
·         Jacqueline Schoemaker - 5 Elements Body Art, providing a unique line of crystals that adhere to the body using a specially formulated adhesive
·         Ishan Tikku - Pro Ball Goalie, instructional video aimed at developing the skills of ball hockey goaltenders
